BREAKING NEWS: MALCOLM WINTERS BACK ON Y&R

Darius McCrary has been cast as the new Malcolm. Yes, you heard it right. No more Shemar! W has learned exclusively that McCrary who was best known for his role as Eddie Winslow on the long running sitcom, Family Matters has signed a multi-year deal to assume the role beginning November 18. His debut will air on December 29. Congratulations Darius!  That's hottt!  I will be looking for him to bring some more sexy to the show.  Now all we need is for Dru to come back from the dead!
“We are thrilled to have the character of Malcolm back on Y&R,” according to a statement from Maria Bell, the drama’s co-executive producer/head writer. “Malcolm, Neil Winters’ brother, has always been a catalyst to exciting stories. He’s coming back to town to see his brother and to reunite with his biological daughter, Lily Winters, as she fights for her life. Malcolm is a photographer … someone who lives on the edge and who always pushes the envelope.”

BILLY JOEL AND WIFE SPLIT!

After almost five years of marriage, rock legend Billy Joel, 60 and his much younger wife Katie Lee Joel, 27, are separating. The split will be the third broken marriage for Joel, who was reportedly staying at his Long Island mansions while Katie Lee spent time in their Manhattan townhouse. Despite reports that the split was an amicable one, Joel is believed to have a prenuptial agreement to protect his music-made fortune. Not one to judge but come on...the age difference alone was probably a factor in the marriage. She's barely 30 and he's headed for retirement. I'm all for Cougars, Lions and Tigers and Bears, but their age gap is like 30 years. I think Mr. Joel should settle down with someone closer to his age.

It's a sad day! Melody Thomas Scott may be written out of the show. Contract negotiations didn't go well for the 30 year vet. According to published reports, the actress is unhappy with being asked to take a salary cut or be dropped to recurring status. (What about the Victor and Nikki reunion?).

I'm going to miss Nikki and I can't see anyone else playing that role - not Deidre Hall or Lisa Hartman Black as some of the soap message boards are suggesting. Deidre Hall will always be Marlena Evans (DOOL got rid of her and Drake).
Nikki is a staple to that show along with Victor Newman and Ms. Chancellor. They've already killed off John (but he comes back as a ghost from time to time). Who's next Victor? Ms. Chancellor? Jack Abbott? Neil Winters?
Speaking of the Winter's - can we get someone to write a good story for them? Y&R are slipping on the writing for their Black cast, and while you're at it...let's add a BLACK family to the Bold & the Beautiful. Aren't their any Rich Black families in LA that are making money in the fashion industry? (Diddy, Russell Simmons, Kimora Lee Simmons, Beyonce, Jay Z)

Back to Nikki: Without Nikki, the show will not be the same and who is Victor going to reminisce with. I'm not sure how much longer I will remain a fan of either show. People like my mom and grandmother have been watching for over 30 years, but I'm sure that's about to change.

According to The Suds Report, actor Chris Engen has quit Y&R because “he allegedly refused to kiss his same-sex co-star Yani Gellman who plays Attorney Rafe. Sources are saying, Chris hasn’t been happy for a while. He doesn’t like the dark direction his character is taking. He’s called in sick a lot recently and has been taking a slew of meetings with Y&R’s top brass to discuss his future on the show. Chris is still under contract and Y&R is seriously thinking of taking legal action.” (I doubt they would win this one!).
Y&R execs are replacing Engen with Veronica Mars actor Michael Muhney. His first air date is Thursday, June 25. Nicholas Newman is going to have a field day with this one.

Leave it to Perez Hilton to take this story and run with it - calling Chris Engen homophobic. Why does the man have to be homophobic because he doesn't want to kiss a man or play a gay man? Acting is his job Perez and when you don't like something about your job, you have the option to stay or Quit! Get over it!

Other soaps are already featuring same sex story lines. Are Y&R fans ready for a gay love story?
