WHITAKER SET FOR CRIMINAL MINDS SPIN-OFF

Oscar winner Forest Whitaker is nearing a deal to headline CBS’ in-the-works spin-off of Criminal Minds, sources confirm to me semi-exclusively.

Whitaker would play Cooper, the new team’s fiercely loyal and intensely private leader. A former star profiler in the BAU, Coop’s been off the grid for the last eight years — leaving only a trail of rumors in his wake.

Minds 2.0 will follow the NCIS/NCIS: LA model in that the new team will be introduced in an episode of Minds this spring before being launched into their own show next fall. Seasoned industry professionals like myself refer to it as a “planted” spin-off.

This is Whitaker’s first regular TV gig since his mesmerizing turn as Michael Chiklis’ arch-nemesis, Jon Kavanaugh, on The Shield.

I'm loving this. Whitaker was AWESOME on The Shield, so his own show is going to be fit for an Emmy. Many film actors are making that leap to TV. Why not - steady work if you can get it.

ANGELINA JOLIE PAYS VIDEO TRIBUTE TO HER MOM

Angelina Jolie and her brother James Haven pay a touching tribute to their mother Marcheline Bertrand who died of ovarian cancer on January 27, 2007. The siblings posted a video on YouTube which includes footage from their private home movies. The video starts with their April 1981 trip to the tropical island of Hawaii.

BRAD AND ANGELINA ARE STILL TOGETHER

Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton spoke to Maggie Rodriguez about the new reports saying actors Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are separating. Who is making up this mess - the National Enquirer? Hmmmmm! But they did get Tiger's ish right.

Brangelina are still together and doing just fine. Why are the tabloids trying to split this couple up? And another thing - I'm so tired of people trying to throw Jennifer Aniston in the middle of this relationship. Brad and Jen was so like 5 years ago...get over it. They are no more. That's like me holding out for Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck...never going to happen.

DUMB LUCK OR JUST DUMB?

According to The NY POST, American Idol Michael "Big Mike" Lynche, was picked last week for the Top 24 but was booted over the weekend.

The reason: his father told a local newspaper that his son made the semifinals,
a violation of the show's confidentiality rules.

The paper reported that
his father confirmed he'd made it to the Top 24.

Joe's Place, which has a history of digging up reliable inside info on the
show's contestants, reported over the weekend that Lynche has been replaced by
another singer from the Top 50 qualifiers.

It sounds like he was so excited about his son making th eshow that he couldn't hold it in! Should Michael be penalized and kicked off of the show because of a big-mouthed relative (Parent)?

Veteran Actor Betty White received the Lifetime Achievement Award as she should have. White has been working in the industry for over 6 decades and according to her - at 88- she still have more roles to play.
