MAYA ANGELOU RUSHED TO THE HOSPITAL

Pulitzer Prize-nominated author and poet Maya Angelou was taken to the hospital Sunday for as-yet-unknown causes, TMZ.com reported.

Angelou, 81, was in Los Angeles to be honored at the BraveHeartAwards, celebrating women who have made changes in their professional fields. Other celebrities scheduled to attend the weekend-long ceremonies were Mariel Hemingway and Courteney Cox, according to the awards' site.

Angelou gained worldwide fame with her literary activism in the Civil Rights movement and for works like "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings," an autobiographical account of her childhood and early teenage years. The book recounted Angelou's experience with sexual abuse and rape at the age of 8 at the hands of her mother's boyfriend.

She was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize for her 1971 poetry collection, "Just Give Me a Cool Drink of Water 'Fore I Diiie."

ATL HOUSEWIFE WILL BE FEATURED ON THE COVER OF "O" MAG

Bravo's "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" star, Nene Leakes will be featured on the September issue of O Magazine. Yes, Oprah's mag! Nene tells S2S that she was contacted by O's LA office to do the cover along with another favorite reality star, Kim Kardashian.

"They asked for reality stars that had become a household name, and I was one of the young ladies that they chose. It was a great honor for them to fly me up to Los Angeles and pamper me for the day.

I can't wait to see the cover and if Oprah will do a show on the reality stars who are quickly becoming household names.

Congrats to you Ms. Leakes.

"PRECIOUS" AN OSCAR GEM

Can you say Oscar winning performances? The Oprah Winfrey/Tyler Perry film is easing on down to the Oscar!

Directed by Lee Daniels (Monsters Ball), PRECIOUS: Based on the Novel "PUSH" By Sapphire is a sure contender for an OSCAR. Set in Harlem in 1987, it is the story of Claireece Precious Jones played by newcomer, (Gabourey "Gabby" Sidibe), a sixteen-year-old African-American girl who gets pregnant for the second time by her absentee father. At home, Precious suffers emotional and physical abuse from her mother, which is played brilliantly by B-More's own, Monique Hicks. From this trailer alone, both Monique and Gabby are absoulutely brilliant!
I almost didn't recognize the beautiful R&B sensation Mariah Carey as the social worker. This ain't no Glitter (although) I enjoyed that movie; but anyway - Mariah is coming into her own as an actress. Rounding out the cast is the beautiful and talented Paula Patton, who plays the caring teacher, Sherri Shephard and Lenny Kravitz. Wow! Great job on this one LEE! I must say that this film should definitely be nominated in at least 4 categories: Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress, Best Director and Best Film.
The film will be released on November 6 in New York and Los Angeles. This is definitely a film worth waiting for!
