MICHAEL JACKSON'S LAST DANCE

Jackie, Tito and Marlon Jackson

Michael Jackson's movie - "This is It" starts tomorrow and you need to get your ticket. Even on a very windy LA day (yes, winds were blowing like crazy), fans, celebs and MJ's siblings assembled at the Nokia Theatre in Downtown LA to witness the "KING OF POP's" last dance before his untimely death on June 25.
I saw the movie with a friend and we were in awe of how great Mike look. His concert would have been FIRE!
Unfortunately we will never get to see how magnificent and magical the show would have been, but I tell you this - Michael Jackson still had it. He could still perform for a 50 yr old man.
He is the KING and will always be the KING in my book and many fans across the world.
The movie opens in theatres around the world today. I can't wait for the DVD to drop.
Check out who else was there!

THE FRESH PRINCE CHRONICLES #2

Alfonso Ribeiro spoke to SUNY college at Oneonta back in January. Here's a clip where he talks about the cast of Fresh Prince and what really went down with the "Real Aunt Viv" - Janet Hubert.
Janet recently spoke out about her ordeal on the show and how Mega-star Will Smith had her fired.
Who do you believe - Carlton Banks or Vivian Banks?

JANET HUBERT DISHES ON THE FRESH PRINCE

According to BV Buzz, Janet Hubert (the original Aunt Viv) on the Fresh Prince has written a (tell all) memoir, 'Perfection Is Not A Sitcom Mom' that is due out in early 2010. The former sitcom mom accuses Mega Box Office Star, Will Smith of sabotaging not only her career but the careers of other actors who worked on the NBC sitcom. Really!

In one excerpt from the book, Hubert excusively tells BV Buzz, "Smith had people around him who made sure no one outshone him. I was happy to see Don Cheadle become the quality actor that he is, and often wondered how he made it past one episode, as Hilary's boyfriend, being such a fierce actor. No one could be on 'The Tonight Show,' that first season, except Will. And I mean no one."

Hubert also recalled an incident where another actor was axed from a guest spot on the show after being too impressive at an early rehearsal for that episode.

"I recall the lovely and incredibly talented Countess Vaughn (The Parkers) coming to guest star. Oh my God! The day of table read, she was pee-in-your-pants funny. The writers were howling, we were howling, so I knew she was history – banished into the cornfield. Many years later, after she had her own show, I had to tell her when she asked me why. 'Miss Janet why did I get cut from the episode,' she asked? Simply, my darling, you were too good," she recollected.

Following her firing from the show, Hubert and Smith were embroiled in a back-and-forth media feud about her departure. Producers of the successful show sided with Smith. Hubert has appeared on numerous sitcoms and has been playing the recurring role of Lisa Williamson on daytime soap opera 'One Life to Live.' The Juilliard School trained actor recently launched J.G. and the B.C. Kids, a line of animated DVD series, children's books and back-to-school bags.

READ REST OF THE STORY HERE

There is always 3 sides to a story: His, Hers and the Truth. I hope that Ms. Hubert can find closure after the book. No since of worrying about "spilled milk". Once it's spilled you can't get it back.

However, no disrespect to Ms. Reid, but yes - Janet Hubert you will always be the REAL Aunt Viv. Of course after reading this, I couldn't resist finding Carlton and Will on Youtube. I could always depend on a good laugh watching this show.

TARAJI "KARATE" HENSON

Image via Fame Pictures

We keep hearing sudden bursts of news about Will Smith’s remake of “The Karate Kid,” then the project seems to quiet down for awhile. Now, a new actor has signed on to star alongside Smith’s son and she’s a red-hot Oscar nominee coming off “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.”

“I’m off to Beijing [soon] to work on a film,” actress Taraji P. Henson revealed to us Sunday afternoon on the red carpet of the MTV Movie Awards. “They’re remaking ‘The Karate Kid.’”

The controversial remake of the Eighties classic is rumored to be called “Kung Fu Kid,” although Henson referred to the film by its original title. Will Smith is producing the project, which will cast his real life son and “Pursuit of Happyness” co-star in the role originally played by Ralph Macchio. When we caught up with Macchio a few months back, he expressed cautious interest in the project.

“Benjamin Button” star Henson, who played Brad Pitt’s adoptive mom Queenie in that film, will once again tap into her maternal instincts for “Kung Fu Kid” or whatever it’s called, playing Jaden Smith’s mother. According to reports, Henson’s character is a single mother named Sherry who is forced to move with her son to China in order to keep her job.

“Jaden Smith -– Will and Jada’s son -– is playing the karate kid. I’m playing his mom,” she explained. “And Jackie Chan is playing Mr. Miyagi.”
Mr. Miyagi role had been changed to the name Mr. Han — although “Fast Times at Ridgemont High” fans would undoubtedly get a bigger laugh if the latter name was kept.

Henson is currently hard at work on the Steve Carrell/Tina Fey comedy “Date Night,” and she’ll be flying to Beijing to shoot “Karate Kid” as soon as she’s done with that film. Stay tuned; if Henson is soon off to start shooting, then we can expect more casting to be announced soon.

JADA IS EBONY BEAUTIFUL

Mrs. Jada Pinkett-Smith is every woman and she is the June 09'Ebony woman. This multi-talented - actress, writer, producer, singer, wife, mother and she recently added School "administrator" has engaged us with her beauty, grace and wisdom for over a decade. From the sassy Lena on "A different World" to the strong woman in her new TNT drama, Hawthorne.
In Eb, this B-more native was very forthcoming about everything from her marriage to one of the biggest movie stars in the world, her kids, her stance on divorce, Scientology and the internet crazed "gay" rumours.
“You want people to talk about you,… because once they stop talking about you that’s when you’re really in trouble!” She continues, “I’m happy to have people talk about all the craziness they want to talk about, whether it’s things like every year we’re getting divorced or we’re an open family or Will’s gay, or I’m gay.”

Check out more excerpts from the interview:

On how she makes her marriage work…

“People always ask me, ‘Will, he’s the biggest movie star in the world and we ain’t never heard of him with anybody. How do you keep him from stepping out on you?’” “I’m not that powerful,” she confesses. “I wish I could say it’s because I’m a bad chick. What it has to do with is Will’s relationship with God and who he wants to be as a man for God.”

On rumors about the New Village Leadership Academy…

“All I can say is it is not a Scientology school. Now, If you don’t trust me, and you are questioning my integrity, that’s a whole different matter. That is straight evil to think that I would bring families into that educational institution and then try to get them to convert into some religion.”

On their decision to home school…

“I didn’t want my children around other privileged kids who felt entitled. I didn’t want them to be around just one type of person.”

On spending time with the kids…

“A lot of time, we just sit at home and watch movies together,” she says. “I like to bake with the kids – 7UP cake is our favorite.”

On divorce …

“When Will asked me to get married, I said, ‘Understand this, there will be no divorce. So, you might be in one bedroom and I might be in another, but we’re gonna be under the same roof and we’re gonna be married.’”

On religion…

“I believe the worst thing a human being can do to another human being is to take away their God. At the end of the day all we’re trying to do is figure out how to live this life and be fulfilled.”

WILL SMITH:

On working hard not to hamper his wife’s spirit…

“There is no other option if I want the full glory of everything that my wife has to offer me emotionally, and spiritually, and sexually, and all of that. If I want that, then I have to increase my capacity for what I am able to handle from my partner.”
