MARY J. BLIGE OPENS CENTER FOR WOMEN

R&B singer Mary J. Blige gives back to her hometown of Yonkers, New York. The Grammy winner opened her new facility along with Hip Hop Mogul Steve Stoute, the Mary J. Blige Center for Women.

This was a dream being fulfilled, a symbol of her own struggles as a child and a young woman. It was the official ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Mary J. Blige Center for Women. Mary gave an emotional speech as she spoke to the press. The building has no sign yet, but it will soon become a safe haven for women and young girls, offering them different programs for education, life skills, self-empowerment and much more.
FFAWN (Foundation for the Advancement of Women Now), which was founded by Blige and Steve Stoute, partnered with design house Gucci and Westchester Jewish Community Services to bring Blige's center to fruition.
